Jenkin’s Basin AgNPS SALT Project:
The Jenkin’s Basin AgNPS SALT Project is located in Northeastern Stoddard County and the Southwestern tip of Cape Girardeau County. The approved budget for this watershed is $ 750,000 over a six-year period. The acres in this watershed total 46,195 with 39,174 acres being in Stoddard County.
The primary goal is to provide protection for the groundwater supply through improved agricultural management techniques. The project has cost share funds available for practices such as underground pipe, surge valves, crown regrade, pivot renozzle, and well decommissioning.

Dexter Creek AgNPS SALT Project:
The Dexter Creek AgNPS SALT Project begins just North of the SWCD office and continues South to the County line. This watershed contains 31,101 acres. The approved budget for this watershed is $ 667,000 over a six-year period.
The project goal is to reduce sedimentation and nutrient and chemical loading into water sources by providing technical, educational and financial assistance to the producers within the watershed. Cost share funds are available for practices such as underground pipe, surge valves, crown regrade, pivot renozzle, and well decommissioning.
Information/Education will be a big part of this watershed. We plan to host Field days and workshops during the life of the project. Watch for dates!
