Mississippi County is located near the center of the United States, halfway between St. Louis, Missouri and Memphis, Tennessee, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

     Mississippi County composed of 411 square miles, is bordered on the north by the State of Illinois, on the east by the State of Kentucky, and on the west by New Madrid and Scott Counties of Missouri. The Mississippi River dominates this county, bordering it on three sides.
