| Dunklin County Soil and Water Conservation District Programs |
| Missouri loses about 71 million tons of soil each year. The loss of topsoil affects all Missourians. Soil erosion also creates other environmental problems. Soil from the land often washes into rivers and streams. Chemicals also can wash into the water with the soil. Soil conservation decreases the amount of soil washed into streams, improving water quality and the health of the environment. Missouri citizens support soil conservation efforts. They voted for a one-tenth-of-one-percent sales tax in 1984, 1988, 1996 and 2006. This Parks and Soils Sales Tax finance all SWCP program activities. It provides the following services: |
